about
This song gradually built itself in my head pretty recently. It's one of my favorites to play.
I'm spending a couple of days at my buddy's house near San Diego. He has a REAL DRUMEST in his garage, so I recorded this with real drums! What! Other instruments featured in this recording: $30 casio keyboard that does not have touch sensitivity, electric guitar missing a string.
lyrics
I want to chase you anywhere, anywhere
But a man gets tired, now you're gone, don't know where
Guess the thrill of the chase now, gets me every time
Something 'bout your affection stops me on a dime
I'll get my butterfly net and my favorite mason jar
I just wanted to hold you, but you're so far, you're so far
Objects in my rear mirror, closer than they appear
Maybe you weren't so distant and it was just my fear
I would have chased you into space, past the stars
But I guess it's too late now, cuz you're so far, you're so far
You never gave to me anything that you had
So why do I say sorry when it's you done me bad?
Then you sent me a postcard "hope you're doing well
Weather's lovely on venus, sorry I gave you hell"
It's hard to concentrate as I'm running through the dark
I guess that's what you taught me, cuz you're so far, you're so far
